Summer

The grass grows, you mow!

If we were to draw up a list of jobs to be carried out in your garden during summer, it wouldn’t be long.
Summer is the season to enjoy your garden and all you need to do is mow the grass depending on the weather and resulting growth. Once a week is usually enough.

For new sowing, the grass should generally sprout up 20 days later. You should wait for the grass to be at least 10 cm tall before you proceed with the first cut. We suggest you trim it to maximum height of 7 cm.

Continue during June with a weed-killer treatment and fertilization with nitrogen and potassium to make it stronger and keep it green before the summer heat when you can then stop fertilization until mid August.

Summer means dealing with high temperatures, high humidity or alternatively prolonged dryness. Summer is in fact the most susceptible time in the annual life cycle of your garden, due to the potential spread of fungicide diseases and intensive use and trampling of grass.
During the hottest months we recommend that you raise the cutting level of your mower and let the grass grow taller to shade and protect the soil and roots, and to prevent evaporation of absorbed water.

Watering  of plants and your lawn after mowing is recommended to keep them healthy.
Follow these simple suggestions:
- During summer, water at night  to allow the water to filter deeply before evaporating during the day.
- Daily restricted watering results in superficial and weak roots. Instead we recommend that  you water copiously every 2-3 days so that your grass develops deep, tough and resistant roots that can face up to dry periods.
