Early  spring is the right time  to remove winter protection  and allow the  sun to warm wet branches to help along  the beginning of the annual life cycle. New sprouts will soon form and  blossom.

Although you may have already tidied them before winter, this task now needs to be repeated. Old dry leaves must be removed and old diseased branches will need to be cut. 

It’s time to prune most of the plants and trees in your garden: climbers, miniature hedges, fruit plants, summer-flowering shrubs and roses in particular. Spring pruning will promote the development of new stronger growth.
