Prepare your machine for storage!

As the grass has stopped growing, it’s time to clean and prepare your mower for winter storage. Some simple and fast maintenance steps will guarantee that your machine works perfectly come next spring.

Remember,  regular and careful maintenance is essential to maintain machine safety and performance. Remember:

- to wear sturdy work gloves when cleaning, maintaining or adjusting machines;
- to only tilt the machine from the side as shown in the engine handbook and follow the relative instructions. Carefully remove grass and mud collected inside the chassis to prevent drying;
- if the lawnmower is provided with a pipe fitting, lower the cutting height as much as possible, connect a hose to the pipe fitting, start the engine and engage the blade. Please remember to stand behind the lawnmower handle during this cleaning operation;
- to check the stone guard and grass catcher to make sure they don’t need to be replaced. Remember that worn or damaged parts have to be replaced and not repaired for safety reasons;
- ensure that sharpening, balancing or replacement of blades is carried out by service centres;
- to allow the engine to cool before storing in an enclosed space and always store without fuel in the tank;
- to disconnect battery leads after ensuring that the battery is fully charged;
- that you do not need to refill the oil or check the spark plug. These operations can be undertaken before the first start, come the spring.

If you cannot store your lawn tractor or front mower inside,  protect them from dust and moisture with the quick and easy-to-fit protective cover. Please refer to  the Castelgarden implements section.
